"This contract involves the huge Texaco-to-Shell conversion involving re-branding at over 8000 potential service stations. It will include: 5' 6" and 8' Replacement Face Systems; Monument Signs; Shell Rapid Lube Conversions of Channel Letters; and MID Signs and Shell Canopy Logotypes," Ledbetter reports.
The competition for the "Approved Supplier" contracts involved dozens of major sign manufacturers nationwide and is due to commence in April, 2002, to be completed in approximately two years. Shell Oil Products U.S. is investing $500 million dollars in the total re-image program of which signage represents a large part.
"SignResource has been a major sign supplier to Shell since 1980," says Ledbetter. "However, regardless of that status - any time Shell plans a new program, especially something as major in proportion as this, we still have to win our way into the program via a major bidding competion with the best sign manufacturers in the country. Our team rose to the occasion and once again we came out on top!" said Ledbetter.
